Raising Humans, Reading Books

Postponed until Fall 2026!

Raising Humans, Reading Books is a parenting and mental health book club designed for parents, caregivers, and anyone interested in intentional parenting and emotional wellness.

Parenting is one of the most meaningful, and challenging, roles we take on.

Through thoughtfully selected books and guided discussion, this book club creates a space to reflect, learn, and grow together while building a supportive parenting community.

Whether you're navigating toddler tantrums, school-age challenges, or the emotional shifts of parenthood, our discussions explore the psychology of parenting, child development, trauma-informed care, and perinatal mental health.

What Makes This Book Club Different

Unlike traditional book clubs, Raising Humans, Reading Books focuses on applying what we read to real-life parenting experiences.

This book club is FREE to attend, and will meet weekly from 12:30p-1:30p on Thursdays (see dates below).

Each meeting we’ll cover a section of the book, and includes:

  • Discussion of key ideas.

  • Practical takeaways.

  • Mental health insights grounded in research.

  • Supportive conversation with other parents.

  • Reflection on how these ideas show up in everyday parenting.

The goal isn’t perfection, it’s growing into more mindful, compassionate parents.

Who This Book Club Is For

This group is ideal for:

  • Parents of infants, toddlers, children, and teens (any parent really!).

  • Expecting or postpartum parents.

  • Caregivers, educators, and helping professionals.

  • Anyone interested in learning various parenting styles, trauma-informed parenting, emotional regulation in families or connecting with others in similar phases of life.

You don’t have to finish the book to attend. The focus is conversation and connection, not homework!

Books We’ll Explore

Our reading list includes evidence-based and accessible books about parenting, relationships, and emotional well-being, including:

  • Matrescence.

  • Due.

  • Like a Mother.

  • Baby Brain.

Topics of discussion may include:

  • Emotionally intelligent parenting.

  • Attachment and connection.

  • Trauma-informed parenting.

  • Perinatal mental health.

  • Breaking generational patterns.

  • Understanding how pregnancy and postpartum impact the brain.

Why Parenting Book Clubs Matter

Parenting can feel isolating, especially when you’re trying to break cycles, manage stress, or parent differently than you were raised.

A parenting book club offers:

• Community with other parents.
• Normalization of common parenting struggles.
• Evidence-based tools and strategies.
• Opportunities for reflection and growth.

By learning together, parents gain confidence, insight, and connection.
